In 2001, John Blu released his CD “Reverse Psychology,” which experienced substantial sales, in the Chicago area. In 2004, John Blu released his first independent CD “Undiscovered” along with his music video “Applause”. This project was the driving force in helping his dream become a reality. In 2005, Blu's first tour as an opening act was on the Laff Comedy Jam Spring college explosion; with various comedians including Deon Cole, Sonya D, Mista Mcgriff. In 2006, John Blu Co-founded Singles R' Us productions (SRU). SRU is a company where local artists come together to network, create, and perfect their craft. He has collaborated with many artists throughout Chicago (producing, arranging, writing, and singing on multiple songs). In 2007, John Blu continued to polish his craft on and off the stage while pinning the name ‘The Collabo King’ and since then he has shared his vocals, beats, and production skills with many more artists throughout the Midwest. He is currently promoting his single ‘Nicknames’, along with its B Side 'In Love with Yo Booty'. John Blu is the next great producer, songwriter, singer to come out of the streets of Chicago. TomHaygen Posted December 7, 2009 Report Share Posted December 7, 2009 Nicknames is smooth as hell, wish the auto tune wasn't used as it sounds like the range isn't there, but his flow is perfect, especially on Booty, when you have a simplistic beat like that its hard to make a track work unless you come with a smooth flow and he does so extremely well.
