nickymix
I'D Appreciate a clean version For every era in music there have been Girl Groups that encompassed the spirit of the time: the classic girl-next-door sultriness of the Supremes; the glamorous and fashion forward boldness of LaBelle; the New Jack sexiness of En Vogue; the B-Girl allure of TLC; the unapologetic over-the-topness of the Spice Girls; and the fearless independence of Destiny’s Child. And now, stepping up to claim their place amongst these legendary groups, is Sincerely XO.JLa, Vii and Jaz took very different roads to Atlanta and it’s burgeoning music scene. But circumstance brought all three girls and their families to Atlanta, GA, the hotbed of talent discovery. The girls were each pursuing non-conventional interests - none of them had a typical college major/ career/ life plan mapped out – when fate stepped in and forever altered their course. Two Atlanta music insiders were putting together a group of two singers and a rapper called the Yes Ma’ams. They envisioned an updated version of Vanity Six; glam, sex, mystery and intrigue. After fruitless auditions, they started reaching out to women they knew, and between the two of them thought of JLa, Vii and Jaz, who were all already on the scene in Atlanta in their own right. All three ladies agree that the chemistry was instant, and the bond between them was solid. While the overall vibe with the new group and management was good, they couldn’t reach an agreement on contract terms, and Jaz’s mother Stephania Shine stepped up to manage the group. The trio shed their Yes Ma’am monikers of Secret (JLa), Privacy (Vii) and Slander (Jaz), and put together a new vision – their vision - of who and what they wanted to be. “We want to be a household name,” says JLa. The ladies decided on the name Sincerely XO; a promise to fans that they were now getting the ladies’ genuine, sincere selves. Along with Atlanta-based hit maker Verse Simmonds, SXO has been working on telling familiar, relatable stories through music: love, life, and heartbreak. But more than anything else? “Our music is about having fun!” exclaims Vii, echoing the sentiment of her group mates. And indeed the girls emit a playful, flirty and fun vibe that makes anyone want to get to know more about them. “Sincerely XO is a special group. On site you fall in love with them,” says Simmonds. “They are exactly what the music industry has been missing in a girl group. I can’t wait for the world to get to know them.”SXO is indeed ready to take the world by storm, but they don’t shy away from comparisons of the groundbreaking girl groups that preceded them. “We accept (the comparisons),” explains Jaz, “but are going to show how we’re different. We’re all building off of someone who came before us.”Follow @itsxo on twitter!http://facebook.com/itssincerelyxoInstagram: @itsxo
