  2. Download Now! Arriving on the heels of big sister/R&B star Brandy, rapper Ray J parlayed his success on television into a music career at the age of 14. Inspired by Brandy's early successes, he signed with Elektra in 1995, recording Everything You Want the following year. When he stepped back into the studio he called on the Neptunes, Rodney Jerkins, and several other hitmaking producers for This Ain't a Game, a pop-oriented record that featured more of his singing than his debut, but it wasn't the breakthrough success it seemed designed to be. He resurfaced with Raydiation (2005) and All I Feel (2008). Follow @RayJ on twitter! http://www.rayj.com/ http://www.myspace.com/rayj http://www.facebook.com/rayj

  6. Playya 1000 and The Deeksta is responsible for putting Tulsa, Oklahoma, on the hip-hop map, dropping heat for many moons. As members of the local underground group DC Boys, They began recording tracks at a faster pace than the rest of the group, resulting in numerous songs that featured production of the Deeksta and Rhymes of Playya . The first Playya 1000 and The Deeksta release, ‘Reality’, was a hit record in the streets despite little radio support. The street buzz from ‘Reality’ paved the way for nationwide distribution and their second release, ‘Blame it On Society?’, which sold roughly 20,000 copies and was featured in The Source Magazine. Fans outside of Oklahoma began to take notice of the California/Midwest hybrid sound that would make Playya 1000 and The Deeksta internationally known. Riding the success of ‘Blame it on Society’, the Dynamic duo released ‘Mo Drama’ in 1994, considered by many fans to be an underground classic. The album featured the summer anthem ‘Sunday Afternoon’ and sold 30,000 units. ‘Sunday Afternoon’ has been a fixture on Tulsa radio stations since its release and still gets the party jumping to this day. After working with other artists such as Deco D, Ghetto Kaos, Big Bur-na and 5-0 Hustlas, They released their fourth record, ‘Foe Da Mill Ticket’. While considered their best release up to that point, a series of events stunted the success of the CD. First this was about the time that Hip Hop became mainstream, which made it very difficult to break through as an underground artist, also Playya gaining custody of his four children, while the Deeksta was working hard building a career at UPS. The duo just got burned out and without making anything official, they just stopped doing music and thus the album never really receive the proper promotion and distribution it deserved. With Playya's children getting older and Deeks getting settled into his career something very after interesting happened. Someone called and wanted to purchase copies of the "Foe-Da-Mill-Ticket" CD to make a long story short, turns out Playya 1000 and the Deeksta had become international underground stars. People from Japan, Germany, Cananda, Australia and more were paying over $500 per CD on Ebay for anything created or produced by the duo. The guy that made the original call "Trevor Naughton" showed them how to capitalize on their new found success and thus deserves a lot of the credit for kick starting the return to Hip Hop for Playya 1000 and the Deeksta. So finally, after a nine year break from the game, Playya 1000 and the Deeksta returned with a new passion and purpose and released ‘20/20 Vision’, a combination of the classic Playya 1000 G Funk mixed with a new school Dirty South vibe. “That album represented the natural process of life, the older you get, the clearer you see the game of life,” Playya says. “It was and is a very important rap CD because it is so street relevant , but it accomplishes this without all the drama or negativity. 20/20 Vision gives you the reality of the streets, because it gives you the real truth, that for every action there is a reaction, be it good or bad the choice is yours. That brings us to present day the new release "Cover Me I'm Going In" picks up where 20/20 Vision left off, but is definitely more present day ready. 20/20 Vision was a spearheaded by a series of re-works of previous Playya 1000 and the Deeksta releases. "Cover me" is all new and its the first time that Playya just went in and got very hip hop lyrical. This CD is an instant classsic, the Deeksta provides the production and when you put the two together the CD is a magical experience. This CD features the heart felt powerful single "Mama" which has received critical acclaim and some are saying is worthy of a Grammy. The video for this song is just as incredible and has been compared to Tupac's 'Dear Mama". Cover Me will set the stage for the continual growth of Playya 1000 and the Deeksta's 20/20 Movement which inspires and empowers youth via in school motivational hip hop performances. Playya 1000 and the Deeksta are asking for support for the movement via CD purchases and donations which can be made at Playya1000.com. Somebody please COVER these boys because they are definitely GOING IN!!!!! Follow @realplayya1000 on twitter! 7. Recording artist, producer and songwriter, Blais (pronounced "blaze") has quite literally ' Blaze'd his way onto the music scene within the past year. His recognition and popularity has torpedoed its way to the top of the music scene while his abilities and maturity have developed and evolved into the workings of a seasoned artist. With the hard-hitting combination of inner-city appeal, advanced rapping agility, and alluringly creative production, Blais continues to prove that he is undoubtedly a 'triple threat' to the hip-hop game. Little did anyone suspect that the Black and Italian native from Brooklyn would be where he is today. At a remarkably young age, „Blais' recognized his passion for music, describing the feeling as “Music was a part of me…it always had been.” As Blais grew older, his love of music inspired him to pursue an interest in dance at the age of five, which eventually led him to discover the musical medium that he would embrace for the rest of his life; the lyrically powerful and inspiring beat of hip-hop. "I always knew that music was something that I really wanted to do," Blais smiles, "I had a lot to say I just needed 'sound'. An artist has his brush, his canvas, and his paint: I'm armed with my paper, my pen, and my message." Over the last several years and many musical milestones later, Blais has had the chance to compete with some of best nationwide and share the stage with some of the biggest names in the industry including Pit Bull, Paul Wall, Krazie Bone, Slim (112), Lil Flip, Manny Fresh, and Baby Bash. He even was featured as himself in Hollywood play entitled “My Brother's Keeper” directed by the well known playwright Donald B. Welch. Blais is currently getting prepared for his single release “Make My Heart Go Boom” featuring Steve Soulja, as well following up with his first anticipated mixtape entitled “Imagination with No Timeline” in which Blais wrote, produce, and engineered himself. “…I think it's going to bring a bit of every style of music and create a different element to the hip hop game. I want to bring change and break the mold that everybody is used to,” says Blais. He is currently on a radio tour with his single and has recently hit stage with Shawty Lo, Ray J, Gorilla Zoe, and Nicki Minaj. Blais is also currently a writing, producing and engineering on several projects including Jordan Sparks, Melonie Fiona, and Dallas recording artist Inertia. He is currently an unsigned artist represented by the well known talent agency J.D.Wilson Management and promoted by California promotional company Gorillaz in Saspenderz. In the streets of Louisiana you got to mention Monroe Louisiana's grinding son EssA. EssA has been grinding over 10 years in the music game. He started out as a DJ in Monroe under DJ Gentleman George doing live remotes for the Hip-Hop radio station in his hometown. He later did promotions for Hypnotized Minds, Dirty work Ent., now known as AFG Music, Short Stop Records "Lil Troy", and Ice Age Ent. (Mike Jones). While working with Houston's Lil Troy, EssA landed a deal with Universal/Bungalo Records. The CD release sold a few thousand units without proper promotions. EssA went on to drop an independent release titled "Gutta Life" that sold upwards of 10,000 plus units out the trunk and in various mom and pop stores in the south. The album featured Juvenile, Sam I Am, T-Bo, Baby Boy Da Prince, and contained a hot single titled "POP IT OFF" featuring New Orleans legend 5th Ward Weebie which gained him a big buzz and generated radio play throughout the state of Louisiana and Texas. Now after years of going through bad deals, and all the pit falls of life, EssA is still here grinding it out. "We out here grinding and finishing up my new release which is untitled at the moment." while chilling with EssA, he gave us a preview of his new CD and believe me THIS DUDE GOT HEAT! His lead single HATE ON is a anthem/club banger! While listening, I heard a very well rounded sound on his project, it's hood but mainstream. EssA states "That's what I tried to do on this project, make world music, something every hood and race could feel. Every race has money problems, life problems, day to day stress and I'm no different from any of them. I really put my heart and soul into this project so the world can see what's in my heart and that I'm just trying to provide for mines and give them good music. We're built for this!" 14. Download Now! Dancehall superstar Sean Paul began scoring hit singles in Jamaica starting in 1996 and thereafter steadily began attracting international attention, eventual breaking into the pop mainstream in 2002 with Dutty Rock. Born Sean Paul Henriques on January 8, 1973, the multi-ethnic Paul (his parents had Portuguese, Chinese, and Jamaican blood) grew up comfortably in St. Andrew, Jamaica, his mother a renowned painter. He was a skilled athlete, excelling in swimming and especially water polo, playing for the Jamaican national team in the latter. Although his education was enough to land a prosperous career, dancehall music remained Paul's first love, particularly crafting rhythm tracks. He became a DJ after he began writing his own songs, patterning his style largely after Super Cat and finding a mentor in Don Yute; he also found contacts in several members of the reggae-pop band Third World in 1993, which helped open up business connections.Paul released his debut single, "Baby Girl," with producer Jeremy Harding in 1996; it proved a significant success, leading to further Jamaican hits like "Nah Get No Bly (One More Try)," "Deport Them," "Excite Me," "Infiltrate," and "Hackle Mi." In 1999, Sean Paul started to make inroads to American audiences; he was first commissioned to collaborate with fellow dancehall hitmaker Mr. Vegas on a production for rapper DMX; titled "Here Comes the Boom," the song was included in director Hype Williams' film Belly. Also that year, Paul scored a Top Ten hit on the Billboard rap charts with "Hot Gal Today." Unfortunately, Paul had a very public falling out with Mr. Vegas over the packaging of the latter's remix of "Hot Gal Today"; still, it didn't slow Paul's career momentum, as he played the Summer Jam 2000 in New York City, the center of his American popularity. That fall, Paul released his first album on VP Records; the sprawling Stage One collected many of Paul's previous hit singles and compilation cuts, plus a few brand-new tracks. 2002's Dutty Rock and 2005's The Trinity were extremely successful. Both albums peaked in the Top Ten of the album chart and featured a handful of mainstream smashes.
