  3. Mellothrives on attention, positive or negative. The sounds of compliments from supporters or the disdain from haters drivesMelloto be the next big star fromChicagoto represent GMG.He got his start in music at young age. "It was fun, more like a hobby... I use to listen to a lot of people and write raps as if I was them. I got hooked into it." Out of this hobby, his talent would develop, people would begin to take notice and ignite his passion for rapping. "The people I was surrounded by was like 'Damn, you can rap', so eventually it started getting serious. It started to get addictive."Mello's uncle, a member of Twista'sLegit Ballerscrew, knew Twista personally and would invite the rapper over to his house. It was there thatMellogot to showcase his skills to Twista.A few years later, one ofMello's joints played at a strip club where Twista'smanager was at. Impressed by the single the manager contacted Twista to let him know about the hot artist, and then he calledMello.Mellodid not believe what was going on, and drove up to the strip club. Both he and Twista arrived at the club, and Twista was surprised to see that the man his manager was talking about wasMello. From then onMelloand Twista would cement their relationship asMellowould work with Twista and sign to the GMG label. 4. Showtime looks to elevate the rap game with dynamic style. Representing Twista’s GMG label, he is an ambitious newcomer in the music industry. Born on July 13th 1988 in Harvey, IL, Showtime grew up humbly in the hood. In school during his music class, Show exhibited a natural skill in lyricism. It was undeniable to Showtime’s teachers and other students that his talent would elevate him to success. Inevitability, he honed his craft and made the effort to pursue a career in music with the support of family, friends and other Harvey based artists. He reveals, “In Harvey everybody shows everybody love. They push you cause’ everybody wants to see somebody out of Harvey make it…Harvey is what brought me here and raised me”. Fortunately, Showtime has come a long way since he started writing songs in 1998. May 2010 saw the release of the GMG distributed mixtape by Showtime Rookie of Da Year. The mixtape showcases his clever lyrical ability impressively over innovative and gritty beats. Show flows over the hard funhouse funk on the track “Get Yo Prize”, robotic bass of “Superhero” and speaker banging “What more can I say”. He has collaborated with Chicago superstars Ben One, Dude N Nem, Phoenix Phenom, as well as, Sly Polaroid, Currensy, Xcel, Butter Pro, Fedarro Noel, 3 Piece, and Lil Wish. Recently, his track “Homerun” featuring J Sqruipt is played on major radio stations across the country. Show wants to provide for his family and look out for those people who had his back. “I’m doing for others, what they tried to do for me when I didn't have nothing. I’m making everyone's life better that made mine's better. That's what drives me”, he confesses. Fast forward to 2011, Showtime has established himself as a charismatic and inspired artist. He says, “I'm the best thing coming out of Chicago in 2011…My style is different: it’s not typical. I make music for the times. I can make a love song, I can make a dance song, or I can go street…I can take a line and flip it better ". With his creative comes an intense drive to prosper. He wants to obtain platinum plaques in album, digital download and ringtone sales; a mission he wants to accomplish at GMG. Being a member of the GMG label, Show has learned to be grateful from his label mates and was taught how to be the best by Twista. “I’m working with one of the top five best rappers alive…Everything he has told me has shown itself true”, Showtime explains. Currently, Showtime is working on his anticipated debut album. The record is set for an April release date and features Twista along with other GMG artists. Show believes hard work is necessary because success is limitless. His goal is to be on the charts with his GMG family and put the rap game on lock in Chicago. He contemplates his career and states, "It couldn't went any better. I got with Twista and he groomed me to be the best artist possible." Being mindful of that, Showtime strives to reach the top and certify his place as a significant Chicago musician. "My impact on the music industry is that I want to be on top of everything. I want to expand what I'm doing. I want to be on the top ten”; Show responds. In his track “Dead Wrong”, he spits “Niggas, bitches, ho, slut, player-haters/ You don’t get no better than Show/ I’m a creative player”. With a record deal with one of the prominent independent labels in hip hop, and tutorage from the legendary Twista; Showtime not only sings it; he brings it. 16. Download Now! He'll take you there. Hip-hop lyricist Cabby paints a vivid picture with his words and smoothly transports the listener into his world. An ultimate storyteller, he's unique in the rap game, in that his lyrics don't rhyme. But you won't miss that typical rhyming pattern because Cabby's straightforward delivery unfolds stories that most folks can relate to. Hailing from Denver, Colorado's rough East Village housing project, Cabby, who was told by his mother that he was nicknamed “Cabby” because it was his father's favorite drink, is a product of his environment, treating school like a part-time endeavor and getting his full-time, hard-knock education on the streets. The introspective Cabby has always been into music—it became fuel for his soul at an early age. He cut his teeth by watching guys like NWA, Master P and Tupac, and worked on perfecting his freestyle flow. And though street life beckoned and took him off of those same streets for a while, Cabby never abandoned his best therapy, that of hip-hop music. He persisted and persevered, with the knowledge that a better life was possible for him. Like Timex, Cabby took a licking from life, but has definitely kept on ticking. He's fully focused on his hip-hop hustle now. His cousin then decided to form an independent record label, Too Much Entertainment to assist him in achieving his goals. He also forayed to Sin City (Las Vegas) to do some shows and feel out the music scene there. Always on his grind, the tattooed Cabby is dedicated to success and self-motivated. His rhymes unfold his real realities set to music. He gets the point across, manipulating words like a kid with a lump of Play-Doh. A modern-day griot, Cabby has a story to tell. Cabby created one of his songs, “Player Hater,” one day in the gym, in Vegas. He was going through some “crabs in the barrel” stuff with the people in his cipher, so his words were his expression and release of the feeling of being surrounded by haters. His message is that they can't stop him. Cabby's “Head To The Sky” talks about his keen focus on succeeding. It's his introduction song, repping area code 303, where his name is still on the block. Some outstanding production talent has worked with Cabby, including Scorp Dezel, who also hails from Colorado, whose credits include Rick Ross, Lil Wayne and Yung Jeezy. Other stand-out producers contributing to Cabby's music project include Maserati Myers and Sid Roams. The hard working Cabby is driving out the negative images of his earlier life and is steadily carving out his niche in the hip-hop music game. He sees the destination in his forward-view mirror, and won't stop until he arrives.
