Podgy Smith was always urged to explore and expand his mind by reading and writing above his years. These elements created the vivid pictures that can be heard within the mental trenches of his thoughts. After high school writing was just a way to express his inner thoughts, but Podgy was more focused on school and playing college football. After two colleges, one degree and football peaking at the collegiate level Podgy went right back to the music grind. Hip-hop is more than just beats and rhymes to Podgy. It’s way of life. Citing influences from Nas, Bun-B,Too Short, Jay-Z, Kanye West, 2Pac and The Notorious B.I.G. He is a true student of the game. Podgy is not just your run of the mill rapper. This skilled rhyme slinger gives listeners creative song arrangements along with witty punch-lines and creative lyrics “I’m not worried about who’s the best, I just want to make undeniable music, I’m confident enough in myself not to entertain that. I’ll just let the music speak for itself, Says Podgy. With that type of confidence you should expect the music to follow. “To The Memories”, Podgy’s first official project was released in June 2011. This project contains raw emotions and ever changing flow patterns over diverse beats to keep the listeners attention. The long overdue album did not lot leave listeners guessing about Podgy’s skill level or ability to make hot songs. Calculating each step, he scored his first charting single. “V.I.P. Party Life” landed #8 on Radiowave Urban Top 30 charts. Podgy was named one of the Open Bars Contest Winners held by MIMS for his upcoming Digital EP. Staying focused on the music grind Podgy is scheduled to release his second project "Get Used To Me" mid October 2011.
