Joseph Francis, aka Joe Nice, is a South Carolina native emcee with a distinct style that is quite different from most southern artist. Born in the 80’s, the culture of rap has heavily influenced his life. At an early age it was easy to see that music would play a significant role in Nice’s future. He began to compete in talent shows in middle school. With numerous awards and trophies, he knew that he had to take his music to the next level.

Nice began to hone his skills, and in 2012 he and fellow artist, Shawn Hemp, released “The Negro League Vol. 1.” The two met after performing at Sky City (Augusta, GA) in 2011 and called themselves Token Black. The mixtape has gained a strong following due to its soulful tones and retro hip hop themes. Shawn Hemp’s “Lemon Purp” has become an underground classic.

Following the success of the Token Black project, Nice released his solo debut, “The Sound of Music,” in the fall of 2013. Joe collaborated with artists such as Mark Deez, CJ Lee, Klutch tha Game Shifta, and Rell Armstrong just to name a few. Joe Nice was also privileged enough to have Augusta’s very own Poet Laureate, Brotha Trav featured on the project. Brotha Trav sprinkles his smooth poetic magic on strategically placed interludes throughout the mixtape. Since its release, the project has garnered national attention as well. His single, “Shots,” has been in rotation at numerous radio stations nationwide and is featured on Pandora and ITunes.

Joe Nice is not just a studio artist. His energetic and passionate live performances have been drawing in larger crowds with each show. In the fall of 2013 he partnered with the band Stereotype which added another dimension to an already astounding stage performance. Together they together and performed at Sky City alongside hip hop legend Shock G (Digital Underground) in January 2014.

By March 2014 Joe Nice’s, movement began to gain momentum and he was invited to headline at Sky City. Since that time he has been back to Sky City to open for Bubba Sparxx and the 69 Boyz. In May 2014 he was 1 of only 2 local artists invited to perform at Mayfest, the largest outdoor concert event in Augusta.

Joe is currently in the studio working on a sophomore up album to “The Sound of Music.” “Party Starter” aka (Michael Jordan) is fast becoming a fan favorite.
