To survive the streets, a temporary roof over his head an occasional meal he hustled. Without support or guidance he dropped out of school. ... His actions lead him to become another stereotype of the system, in conclusion incarcerated. At the age of Sixteen he was introduced to the craft of rap. Centering his emotions, he learned the art of rhyme. Through the art of words he found his creativity and transformed his words into concrete lyrics. He passed his time battle rapping and the birth of Gates, became his stage name. Gates is also a jack of all trades with talents like stand up comedy,acting and he's currently writing a sketch comedy tv pilot. he now resides back and fourth between richmond, Virginia and new york but Gates is a hard working artis for sure and can run with the best of them! Today Gates lives a grounded life, he has embraced his community and whenever he has the opportunity, he shares with the youth his story, and how lucky he truly was. His body, his temple, he practices total health and complete conditioning.
