General Comments: Known as Iceberg; straight from his hometown of Chicago, Illinois into a deal with DMX's Bloodline Records, 15 year old rapper/producer Christian Ward's career began on the film soundtrack for Warner Bros. 2001 release 'Exit Wounds' a lot like an early Christmas: too much, too soon...and all before 25. While most teenage hip-hop artists remain strictly "bubblegum" before they find themselves ushered into adulthood, Yung Berg made many grownup decisions for himself in moving to Los Angeles after that first success with mentor DMX; eventually settling in as a recording assistant and hypeman for Disturbing the Peace's female emcee Shawnna in 2005. However, it soon became apparent that the young man was deserving of his own hype - forming a Yung Boss imprint the same year, along with his production team, Yung Bosses...who quickly proved themselves well worth the title when Berg's debut single "Sexy Lady" became an instant radio hit on the West Coast. So worthy, in fact, that Epic Records picked up the crew to release a six-track EP 'Almost Famous' featuring "Sexy Lady" which peaked at #18 on the Billboard 100. Subsequently, Berg's next single "Sexy Can I" featuring Ray-J was much of the same magic; as was his follow-up smash from the album 'Look What You Made Me' with "The Business" peaking at #33 on the Hot 100 in 2008. Since then, having become an internet sensation and pop-culture icon of sorts due to his fondness for jewelry, behind the scenes Christian Ward/Yung Berg has quietly been a production and songwriting powerhouse; delivering tunes for artists such as Cassie, Roscoe Dash, and even Diddy. In 2010, having added Jim Jones, Lil' Scrappy, Young Money, etc. to his portfolio, the future will surely bring additional components of hit-making spark to an already phenomenal catalog of fire. As he navigates his manhood with the lessons learned from a youth spent readying for greatness, the music industry is buzzing to see what is next for an older - but still very young - boss.
