The problem with pricing is simple economics. Cost VS Demand.....the pool of djs are very large, whether they are good or bad there are a lot of djs out there. If you want work, if you want to feed your family you going to have to adjust your pricing. The consumer are who control the pricing. If you raise the price of gasoline no matter how high once you have a car you are going to pay whatever the price is because there is not substitue. However if a good dj charge 700 a session a mediocre one will charge 400 or 500. Djing is not my main source of income so i wont play unless the price is right, the crowd is large enough or I just personally want to do it. BLESS>>>>>

I use to think djing was djing no matter the situation. But these days you have people putting out what are called mixtapes with full length songs, sfx and voice drops and call that a mixtape....oh yeah and a kick ass cover with none of the people on the cover on the mixtape. There are key ingredients all djs must have: knowledge of music, ability to read a crowd, mix cleanly, select the right tunes at the right time. I don't know about you guys but I hate being in the club and hear a song 2-3 times....only exception is if it is a kick as remix to the orginal and it is totally different from the original. Scratching is icing on a cake to me.....i love to scratch and hear scratching but being a turntabilst does not make you a dj. A true dj myst play old skool, current, different genres, shit so new that makes you pull out your iphone and try to find that track on the spot....VARIETY No matter how expensive or cheap the equipment if you can't dj you gona suck no matter what. So a true dj can rock the crowd with 2 ipods, cd decks, mp3 players, laptops, mk1200, whatever is out there....is like usain bolt...no matter what shoes they put on his feet he still gona be the fastest man on the planet no matter what he is wearing. A true dj should be able to play whatever he wants and still rock a crowd.....in the sense that if you at a techno club you should be able to frequently mix in lets say a reggaeton, hiphop with out killing the vibe... The craft of djing like everything else has become easier with technological advances...so don't hate on a serato or a pc dj....hate on the serato dj that plays those ready made remixes with scratches already in them and they pretending to be doing that shit themselves....
