Born in McComb, Mississippi and raised in Carson, California, he is the brother of recording artist and actress Brandy Norwood and the first cousin of rapper Snoop Dogg.

D'Juan Montrel Hart (born January 15, 1979), better known by his stage name Young Dro, is an American hip hop recording artist from Bankhead, Atlanta, Georgia. After gaining recognition with his regional hit song “Yes Sir", from his 2002 independent album I Got That Dro, Young Dro aligned himself with fellow Atlanta-based rapper T.I. and signed to his label, Grand Hustle Records, in 2004. Young Dro's major-label debut Best Thang Smokin', was released in August 2006, under Grand Hustle and Atlantic Records. The album was preceded by his debut single "Shoulder Lean", which served as the album's lead single and proved to be a hit in the urban community and Billboard charts. After amassing an abundance of mixtapes, Dro released his second album High Times, seven years later on October 15, 2013, under Grand Hustle, Atlantic and eOne Music. It spawned the single "FDB", his highest charting single since "Shoulder Lean".

Jeremih Felton (/ˈdʒɛrɨmaɪ/) (born July 17, 1987), is an American recording artist from Chicago, Illinois. In 2009, he signed a record deal with Def Jam Recordings. Jeremih's commercial debut single, "Birthday Sex", peaked at number four on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart. His self-titled debut album, reached number six on the US Billboard 200 chart. Jeremih's success continued with the release of his second album, All About You, led by the single "Down on Me", which also reached the top five of the Billboard Hot 100. In 2014, his single "Don't Tell 'Em," became his third top-ten hit on the Billboard Hot 100.

Kristopher Campbell (born April 27, 1990), better known by his stage name K Camp (stylized as K CAMP), is an American rapper and vocalist from Atlanta, Georgia. He is best known for his 2014 single "Cut Her Off". He signed a record deal with Interscope Records, and released his debut EP In Due Time on April 22, 2014. He was also chosen as part of the XXL Magazine 2015 Freshman Class. Camp's debut album Only Way Is Up was released on September 4, 2015.

Christopher Maurice "Chris" Brown (born May 5, 1989) is an American recording artist, dancer and actor. Born in Tappahannock, Virginia, he taught himself to sing and dance at a young age and was involved in his church choir and several local talent shows. Having signed with Jive Records in 2004, Brown released his self-titled debut studio album the following year. It peaked at number two on the US Billboard 200 and was later certified double platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). With his first single "Run It!" peaking atop the US Billboard Hot 100, Brown became the first male artist as a lead since Diddy in 1997 to have his debut single top the chart. His second album Exclusive (2007) spawned his second Hot 100 number one "Kiss Kiss", in addition to "With You" and "Forever". The album was also certified double platinum by the RIAA.
In 2009, Brown received much media attention after pleading guilty to felony assault of his then girlfriend, singer Rihanna; he was sentenced to five years of probation and six months of community service. His third album Graffiti was released later that year, and included the top-twenty single "I Can Transform Ya". Brown's fourth album F.A.M.E. (2011) became his first to top the Billboard 200; it spawned hit singles "Yeah 3x", "Look at Me Now", and "Beautiful People". F.A.M.E. earned Brown his first Grammy Award for Best R&B Album at the 54th Grammy Awards. His fifth album Fortune was released in 2012. However, after the release of Exclusive, Brown's albums have not been well received commercially or by music critics, with the exception of X, which received a normalized rating of 63. Brown's seventh studio album Royalty is set to be released on December 18, 2015.
Apart from his work in the music industry, Brown has pursued an acting career. In 2007, he made his on-screen feature film debut in Stomp the Yard, and appeared as a guest on the television series The O.C.. Other films Brown has appeared in, include This Christmas (2007), Takers (2010), Think Like a Man (2012), and Battle of the Year (2013). Throughout his career, Brown has won several awards, including two NAACP Image Awards, three American Music Awards and fourtheen BET Awards.

Jay Wayne Jenkins (born September 28, 1977), better known by his stage name Young Jeezy (or simply Jeezy), is an American hip-hop recording artist from Atlanta, Georgia. In 1998, he launched the label imprint CTE World (then known as Corporate Thugz Entertainment). Aside from his solo career, Jeezy is the de facto leader of the southern hip hop group United Streets Dopeboyz of America (USDA), and is a former member of Bad Boy Records' Boyz n da Hood. Jeezy is also known for helping pioneer the hip hop subgenre trap music, alongside fellow Atlanta-based rapper T.I..
Jeezy embarked on his music career in 2001, as Lil J, with the release of Thuggin' Under the Influence (T.U.I.). He later joined Boyz n da Hood in 2005, the same year his solo major-label debut Let's Get It: Thug Motivation 101, was released. Its lead single "Soul Survivor", which features R&B singer Akon, became a top-ten hit in the US. His subsequent albums, The Inspiration (2006) and The Recession (2008), both yielded chart-topping singles. Jeezy has also been featured on numerous hip hop and R&B hit singles, such as "Say I" by Christina Milian, "I'm So Paid" by Akon, "Hard" by Rihanna and "Love in This Club" by Usher, the latter of which reached number one on the US Billboard Hot 100, in 2008.

Norris Toney (born December 3rd, 1986), better known by his stage name Nori Tone, is an American artist from Chattanooga, TN but currently resides in his second home Houston, Texas. He began rapping when he was 10 years of age. 2015 he released his first official mixtape titled Walkin Lick Hosted by Houstons own radio personality DJ. Mr. Rogers, premiered his first video on worldstarhiphop, and ever since then he’s been on a non-stop grind relentlessly! His goal is to keep up the grind, stay relevant, and consistent. With partner Bun B, rapper Pimp C (born Chad Butler) formed UGK and helped put hardcore Houston, TX hip-hop in the spotlight, but he's also known for being at the center of a street-level campaign that sold nearly as many T-shirts as the "Yayo's Home" and "Frankie Say Relax" phenomena. UGK's rise began in 1988, and with a slow and steady series of albums and guest appearances, they became one of the most respected crews from Texas. This all came to a halt in January 2002 when the rapper was sentenced to eight years in prison after violating probation by ignoring the community service sentence he had received from an earlier aggravated gun assault charge. Bun B carried on and spread the "Free Pimp C" message wherever he could. The campaign spawned thousands of unlicensed "Free Pimp C" T-shirts. In early 2005, while he was still on lockdown, Pimp C's solo debut, Sweet James Jones Stories, appeared, and it didn't take fans long to figure out that even if the beats were new, at least a quarter of the album was put together from previously released vocal tracks. At the end of the year, right before he reached the halfway mark of his sentence, Pimp C was released from prison. Fans got their true Pimp C solo album when Pimpalation appeared in the summer of 2006. Tragically, in December of 2007, Pimp C was found dead in his hotel room in West Hollywood from an accidental overdose of promethazine and codeine (common ingredients of “purple drank”). An album he was working on at the time of his death, The Naked Soul of Sweet Jones, was completed by Rap-A-Lot president J. Prince and the Pimp’s wife, Chinara Butler, for a 2010 release. William Leonard Roberts II (born January 28, 1976), better known by his stage name Rick Ross, is an American rapper. In 2009, Ross founded the record label Maybach Music Group, on which he released his studio albums Deeper Than Rap (2009), Teflon Don (2010), God Forgives, I Don't (2012), Mastermind and Hood Billionaire (2014). Ross was also the first artist signed to Diddy's management company Ciroc Entertainment. In early 2012, MTV named Ross as the Hottest MC in the Game.

R&B singer August Alsina spent the first several years of his life in New Orleans, Louisiana, but his mother moved his family to Houston, Texas to gain distance from the troubled lives led by his crack-addicted father and stepfather. In 2007, as a young teenager, Alsina uploaded covers of songs by Musiq Soulchild and Lyfe Jennings, which racked up thousands of views on YouTube. His home situation deteriorated, and he moved back to New Orleans, where he turned to dealing drugs. The shooting death of his brother was a wake-up call; motivated to develop his talent as a singer, he moved to Atlanta, Georgia and recorded a 2012 mixtape, The Product, which featured Lloyd on the track "Sucka." Early in 2013, Alsina released "I Luv This Shit" as the first single from his second mixtape, The Product 2. An EP, Downtown: Life Under the Gun, followed in August 2013. "I Luv This Shit" subsequently peaked at number 13 on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles chart and crossed into the Hot 100, where it reached number 48. Alsina's proper debut album, Testimony, was released in April 2014. It featured appearances from Rick Ross, Pusha T, and Fabolous, and reached number two on the overall albums chart. ~ Andy Kellman

Fabolous scored a bit hit, "Can't Deny It," right out of the gate in 2001, instantly establishing himself as a rising East Coast rap star, the song's combination of street-savvy toughness and pop crossover appeal representative of the rapper himself. Streetwise and hardened yet young and graced with poster-boy good looks, the Brooklyn rapper (born John Jackson on November 18, 1977) was one of the first East Coast MCs to embrace the bling mentality of the South as well as the gangsta swagger of the West Coast, all the while incorporating a subtle undercurrent of pop-rap into his music. He was among the first of a new breed of New York City rappers, later and most notably to include 50 Cent, who were able to cross over well among multiple markets without losing street credential. His youth was key, but so was his bravado, and when Fabolous could balance this persona optimally and find himself a production formula to fit, commercial success resulted. His breakthrough single, "Can't Deny It" -- a Rick Rock production featuring a 2Pac sample and a Nate Dogg feature, as well as a catchy hook -- preceded his debut album, Ghetto Fabolous (2001), and generated quite a bit of buzz. The album also featured production work by the Neptunes, but only managed one other single, "Young'n," which failed to match the success of "Can't Deny It." When Fabolous returned with his sophomore album, Street Dreams (2003), he capitalized on his initial renown, racking up three major hits: "Trade It All," "Can't Let You Go," and "Into You," with the latter two breaking into the Top Five of Billboard's Hot 100. Later in 2003, More Street Dreams, Pt. 2: The Mixtape hit stores just in time for the holiday season. Comprised of various street-level recordings originally released on mixtapes, this compilation didn't spawn any hits, but it did reaffirm Fabolous' hip-hop credentials in the wake of his string of pop crossover singles. The following year brought with it another album, Real Talk (2004), which didn't offer any major pop crossover hits ("Baby" was a minor one) yet did boast a monster Just Blaze production, "Breathe," which further shored up Fabolous' hip-hop credentials. The young rapper took most of 2005 and 2006 off, and shortly before the scheduled release of his next album, in late 2006, he made headlines when he was shot in the leg and subsequently charged with weapons possession (police found two guns in the car that transported him to the hospital). Def Jam -- which signed Fabolous after sending Musiq to Atlantic in a unique trade situation -- released From Nothin' to Somethin' (2007). The album debuted at number one on Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart (number two overall) and spawned a series of singles, including the Top Ten hit "Make Me Better" featuring Ne-Yo. Two years later the hit single "Throw It in the Bag" would land on his album Loso's Way, a loose, conceptual full-length inspired by the film Carlito's Way. Sean John Combs (born November 4, 1969), also known by his stage names Puff Daddy, Puffy, Diddy, and P. Diddy, is an American rapper, record producer, actor, and entrepreneur. Combs was born in Harlem and grew up in Mount Vernon, New York. He worked as a talent director at Uptown Records before founding Bad Boy Records in 1993. He released his debut album No Way Out in 1997, which has been certified seven times platinum and was followed by successful albums such as Forever (1999), The Saga Continues... (2001) and Press Play (2006). In 2009 Combs formed the musical group Diddy – Dirty Money and released the critically well-reviewed and commercially successful album Last Train to Paris (2010).
Combs has won two Grammy Awards and two MTV Video Music Awards, and is the producer of MTV's Making the Band. His non-music business ventures include the clothing lines Sean John and "Sean by Sean Combs" – for which he earned a Council of Fashion Designers of America award – a movie production company, and two restaurants. In 2015 Forbes estimated Combs' net worth at $735 million.

For whatever reason, New York hip-hop had decided by the 90s that it was just not going to dance any more. The city slowly started to come back around, though. In 2004, Terror Squad released “Lean Back” (ironically a song about being too good to dance). Last year brought Bobby Shmurda’s Shmoney Dance, along with the accompanying hit “Hot Nigga.” This year it’s Bed-Stuy artist 2 Milly’s song and dance “Milly Rock,” a move that replaces the Shmoney Dance’s smoothness for a glitchy update of the two-step.
But although the dance started in New York, it’s now starting to go viral, as the song’s hook promises, on blocks across the country. The official video has currently attracted over 340,000 views; people have since Milly Rocked on fire escapes and inside of whips. Rihanna Milly Rocked. Damn it, people are risking their lives to do the Milly Rock. This past Sunday, Travi$ Scott brought 2 Milly and the Stack Paper collective out at Hot 97’s Summer Jam, one of hip-hop’s marquee events. It shouldn’t take that cosign to convince folks the Milly Rock isn’t simply a local thing. But hey, it’s a good look.
