Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter (/biːˈjɒnseɪ/ bee-yon-say) (born September 4, 1981) is an American singer, songwriter, record producer and actress. Busting out of Atlanta in 2011 with his hit street track "Tony Montana," rapper Future grew up in Atlanta's Zone 6 section. Born Nayvadius Cash, hip-hop was in his family, as his cousin was producer Rico Wade. It was his local crew who gave him his moniker, dubbing him "The Future of Rap," something the nation got to experience in 2010 when he partnered with Gucci Mane for the mixtape Free Bricks. Back home, he was known as a hometown rapper and organizer of the popular McMillan Street block party, but in 2014, South Memphis rapper Blac Youngsta became a nationwide name thanks to his hit song "Heavy." Youngsta began hosting the parties in 2011 in order to honor a neighborhood youth, King Craddy, who was violently murdered the year before. A year later, he released the first of his Fast Brick mixtapes, with Fast Brick 2 landing that same year. Fast Brick 3 followed in 2014, while the single "Heavy" landed late that same year.

For whatever reason, New York hip-hop had decided by the 90s that it was just not going to dance any more. The city slowly started to come back around, though. In 2004, Terror Squad released “Lean Back” (ironically a song about being too good to dance). Last year brought Bobby Shmurda’s Shmoney Dance, along with the accompanying hit “Hot Nigga.” This year it’s Bed-Stuy artist 2 Milly’s song and dance “Milly Rock,” a move that replaces the Shmoney Dance’s smoothness for a glitchy update of the two-step.
But although the dance started in New York, it’s now starting to go viral, as the song’s hook promises, on blocks across the country. The official video has currently attracted over 340,000 views; people have since Milly Rocked on fire escapes and inside of whips. Rihanna Milly Rocked. Damn it, people are risking their lives to do the Milly Rock. This past Sunday, Travi$ Scott brought 2 Milly and the Stack Paper collective out at Hot 97’s Summer Jam, one of hip-hop’s marquee events. It shouldn’t take that cosign to convince folks the Milly Rock isn’t simply a local thing. But hey, it’s a good look.

A singer, songwriter, and rapper that crosses over from R&B to hip-hop, Rodriquez Jacquees Broadnax is known simply as Jacquees when he steps out from behind the scenes. Hollywood on the west coast in Los Angeles and Hollywood Road on the west side of Atlanta have one thing in common- they both have seen their share of lights, cameras and action, but for decidedly different reasons. Burgeoning rap star Da’Quan “PluGG” Hayes knows the disparity first hand. Born and raised in one of the city’s most notorious crime riddled neighborhoods, the 18-year-old diamond in the rough is polishing his skills with one goal in mind and that’s to be the best.
PluGG earned his moniker earnestly. As a high school student at Benjamin E. Mays, the young hustler became known as the go-to guy on campus for any and everything. In between being an enterprising teenager, PluGG was dabbling in the studio where he would often spit over beats produced by his brother. Once school was over, the MC began focusing all of his attention on rapping. As a result, he completed his debut mixtape aptly titled Hollywood Raised, Volume 1. Much like the MC’s personality, his music is straightforward, authentic and cool.
PluGG has a natural knack for capturing the tone and attitude of old-school Atlanta with the raw emotion found in his hardened lyrics that chronicle his troublesome life. His dad was incarcerated for 13 years, as was as his uncle, however PluGG didn’t allow any of that misfortune to slow him down. The certified trendsetter takes his frustrations out on the mic spitting street tales over trap beats that prove he’s lining himself up to carry on the tradition set before him by west Atlanta vets such as TI, Young Dro and Shawty Lo. Like his predecessors, PluGG has a real heart for the city, however he brings his own perspective, experiences and slang. While he proudly reps his zone, PluGG’s unique appeal places him in a lane dominated by no one but himself.
On the soon to be classic Hollywood Raised, Volume 1, the lyrical storyteller flexes his songwriting muscle. PluGG gives listeners a glimpse into what life has been like growing up on the ruggedness of his block, a place where everybody knows your name. He pens genuine, relatable material that transcends socioeconomic status, writing about struggle, loss and pain, as well as celebrating the good times. The album was preceded by his debut single "Shoulder Lean", which served as the album's lead single and proved to be a hit in the urban community and Billboard charts. After amassing an abundance of mixtapes, Dro released his second album High Times, seven years later on October 15, 2013, under Grand Hustle, Atlantic and eOne Music. It spawned the single "FDB", his highest charting single since "Shoulder Lean".
