  1. THE REBELLION The underground buzz has been talking about a rock group, The Rebellion, taking center stage and there is no holding back. “B.G” (vocals), Eugenuis (vocals), Angelikenisis (vocals), J-Sin (drums), Abzent Minded(guitar), Byron(guitar), B-Dogg (bass), and DJ Ceez are the hot new artists that make up The Rebellion who have signed with RockHop Records. B-Dogg, Abzent, and Byron are natives to Southern California, Eugenuis and Angelikenesis come from Atlanta, and “B.G.”, J-Sin and DJ Ceez are from Florida. These men come from humble beginnings—things weren’t handed to them. Their debut album for “The Gate 11:11” will be released in 2010—with their highly anticipated singles being simultaneously released, “Grown and Sexy” (a more urban vibe) and “Kingdom of the Light” (more rock influenced). Growing up they knew that if they wanted to live out their dreams, with the right determination and charisma, they would learn integrity, and knowledge of the world. Signed to RockHop Records, the band had an opportunity to write and play the music they love and are passionate about—fusing both rock and hip-hop into one. Established in 2006 by band member “B.G.” in Orlando, Florida, he teamed up with and DJ Ceez to add to his staff. Two years later, RockHop Records relocated to southern California, where The Rebellion was signed. Unlike typical teenage boys, they enjoyed practicing magic and rituals, but knew that they belonged in music—all coming from highly influenced, musically trained backgrounds. While the others were self-taught, J-Sin was educated and received his bachelors from the University of Florida, and “B.G.” and DJ Ceez received an associates degrees in the recording arts from Full Sail University in Florida. Angelikenisis worked for Def Jam South, the highly acclaimed record label, for three years and has collaborated with such artists as Scarface. He moved on to work for Evander Holyfield’s record label, Real Deal Records, where he reunited with fellow band member Eugenuis. Their passion exudes as they write, produce, engineer and mix their own music. They possess skills and talents in a majority of musical arenas which sets them a part from many bands out there today. Their inspiration comes from life in general—whatever is happening in the world, whether it’s pain or love. The “creator” to them has influence over their music. They have not let this fame get to them, like many in the industry they still look up to those who have changed music in all aspects of the word. From RUN-DMC, The Beatles, to Prince they hope to model their success to those who have shaped the industry as it is today. The title of their debut album, “The Gate 11:11”, holds significant meaning, because 11:11 is when we are all one. The numbers in it are symbolic. Everyday at that time everyone is suppose to or remind themselves we are all one—to express to those around them love at that moment in time,” band member Angelikenesis said. The release of two debut singles simultaneously, “Grown and Sexy” and “Kingdom of the Light”, represents what they are all about in terms of their music being a fusion of both rock and hip-hop. Their debut albums consists of songs that are highly influenced by both genres, but the concept of the simultaneous release will help them capture both audiences, and slowly fuse them to their “Rockhop” music. Their music personifies the magical experience, what the band likes to refer to as “magick musik,” which is a feeling one gets from the music and lyrics they are listening to. It carries this magical essence that captures their intrigue and slowly creates this strong hypnotic effect. From humble beginnings to signing with a record label, the feeling couldn’t be expressed in words. They now have the opportunity to share their music with the world, and with a label that encourages their unique sound and stands behind them with their decisions there is a no holds bar to what their music will do for them and for those they want to share it with. The Rebellion don’t like to compare themselves with other musicians out there and feel that their music and sound will set them apart from anything out there right now. 15. When you meet Taylah P and Kelci, the girls behind Vistoso Bosses, the first thing you notice is their style. Depending on the day Kelci might have some color in her hair and a million colorful buttons on, Taylah might have drawn freckles on her cheeks or brushed brightest shade of blue you’ve ever seen over her big brown eyes. But after that you’ll notice that these best friends “from before birth” have the kind of confidence you’d never expect from a pair of 17-year-olds. It’s not a put-on. Kelci and Taylah are the first women to sign to Collipark Music, having come to the attention of Collipark boss Mr. Collipark through a friend. "When I saw the girls, it opened me up to a whole world," he says. The girls already had not only their look and personalities, but their memorable first single, the infectious UK pop meets Cyndi Lauper single "Delirious." It got his attention right away. "When you walk through the mall with Vistoso and you see the girls running up to them and asking questions, you don't need to know that there's nothing on the radio like this, or that there are no other girls who look like them." And, trust, it's all them. Vistoso Bosses bring a do-it-yourself spirit to their rising music career. They didn’t meet at a casting call, and everything, from their style to their sound, belongs to them. “A lot of people say that it's set up and that people tell us what to do, but that's us,” says Taylah. Kelci sets them straight: “Nobody told us how to act.” In fact Vistoso Bosses really began in their grandmother's closet. “We made a cardboard box with a cover and a mic sitting in there,” Kelci laughs. “We would make beats with our mouth, record it, and play it back so we could write the song. It was great!” The girls started recording professionally soon after, but they still had to take the public bus to get to the studio. “We knew you needed to have a name for people to take you seriously," explains Taylah. Out of a thousand names came “Vistoso,” a Spanish word that means gorgeous, but suggests “something that catches your eye.” Perfect. Their fierce dedication to their music taught them that maturity is something you earn through self-respect, not age. It’s with that idea that the girls started another vital part of the Vistoso world—the Ultimate Young Lady sorority. The girls' MySpace page is a home base for Vistoso Bosses, but it's also the online home of the U.Y.L. Each week Kelci and Taylah select one young lady who embodies the U.Y.L. spirit. They modeled U.Y.L. on their own friendship—Kelci and Taylah are very independent (for the record: Taylah’s more girly, Kelci’s got more attitude) but they're still fiercely loyal to each other. Every girl in U.Y.L. finds that same independence within herself. The U.Y.L. sprang from a real experience. “I was going through a situation with one of my best friends and all of these other girls,” Taylah says. “Teenage girls always have drama—they can't really get along together, lying to each other, backstabbing and always trying to compete. So I decided to write about it.” Her words became the lyrics for “U.Y.L” and the motto for the Ultimate Young Lady sorority—”No faking, no hating, no ex-boyfriend dating. Ultimate young ladies don't compete because there's no competition.” Their message is simple: when you are confident with who you are, comparing yourself to others just seems silly. U.Y.L. is just one story on their upcoming Collipark Music/Interscope Records debut, Confetti. Their first single,"Delirious" ft. Soulja Boy Tellem’, shows the girls confident and ready to approach their crush, though their "heart skips a beat" and the song's syncopated rhythm ticks with nervous energy. The rest of Confetti is full of tough beats paired with pretty melodies. It’s a little Miami bass and freestyle, a little California pop punk, and a little Atlanta hip-hop. No surprise that Vistoso Bosses "listen to everything," according to Kelci, from the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Lily Allen to Beyonce and Soulja Boy. It's also no surprise that there’s no easy way to describe their sound—except for “vistoso,” of course. "U.L.Y." and "Delirious" are inspired by the girls’ past, but ”Supastar” is all about the future. Like "U.Y.L.," “Supastar” inspires others to trust themselves and their talent. “It really describes us and the way I felt like going up,” says Taylah. “It's talking about how nobody understood you and what you're trying to do and now you've got to break free and let it go.” It's the perfect summer pop song, the kind of track you’ll sing along with in the car. Along those same lines, “Camera” is a heartfelt ballad about holding on someone you care about, even if it means only holding on to a memory. In addition to their music, Vistoso Bosses communicate with their fans directly through MySpace and YouTube videos, where viewers become part of Vistoso Bosses' glamorous (magazine photo shoots) and not-so-glamorous (finding a table at lunch) lives. This is where Taylah and Kelci really connect with their fans. Both girls leave their AIM accounts open whenever they can so they can chat 1-on-1 with their fans. Of course lots of Vistoso Bosses' male fans have asked for their numbers too. But like they say in "U.Y.L," it's strictly "friends before dudes." "We definitely love the guys," says Kelci. "But this is what we want, our dream, so we have to work." And that's so, so vistoso. Follow @VistosoBosses2 on twitter! Contact: VistosoBosses2@gmail.com

  17. The year 2005 was like yin and yang for Atlanta bling rapper Gucci Mane. He enjoyed success entering the charts with his first national hit, "Icy," became involved in a quarrel with that song's collaborator, Young Jeezy, and found himself facing murder charges in the Georgia courts. Before his career as a rapper, Gucci Mane, whose birth name is Radric Davis, loved to write poetry when he was in elementary school. He moved to Atlanta from Birmingham, AL, with his single mother during the fourth grade. Since progressing to rap was a fairly easy step, Gucci Mane already had spent time in a recording studio by the age of 14. The glamour and sense of fashion of rappers like Big Daddy Kane motivated him to put words to music. His locally played debut single, "Black Tee," earned him a contract with Big Cat Records, and in May 2005 the label released his debut album, Trap House, which stood at the number one spot on Billboard's Heatseekers chart. The beef with Young Jeezy originated from a fight over the rights to the album's "Icy" hit single, which spawned a number of dis tracks traded between the two. Within the same month of his LP's release, Gucci Mane was arrested for murder following an altercation in which he shot at a group of five men who burst into his friend's house, threatening to kill the rapper. As it turned out, the murdered attacker was an associate of Young Jeezy, but he has denied any involvement with the incident. Gucci Mane declared in court that it was self-defense, and by January 2006, Georgia prosecutors dropped all charges, citing lack of evidence. After being released from jail (on charges unrelated to the murder) that same month, he quickly went back into the studio to make his second album, Hard to Kill, which was released in October. He took the song "Go Head" from his first album and made it the lead single for the second in order to make up for the time taken away from promoting Trap House. The State vs. Radric Davis, his second official album, was released in December 2009 following a dizzying array of mixtapes. ~ Cyril Cordor, Rovi Follow @Gucci1017 on twitter! 21. Chino AKA "Mr. 636" is a native son of St. Louis, MO. and the first official signing of independent label Nettwork Entertainment. A charismatic and eloquent MC Chino is the latest and greatest export from the STL. A superstar waiting to be discovered by the world, Chino has always known he was destined for stardom. "I've always been driven. My style is more laid back and I'm a very humble person." Chino actually wrote his first rhyme when he was only 9 years old but he didn't start getting serious until he was 19. He got his first taste of the music industry when he landed a development deal with Atlantic Records. When things didn't really work out with that he decided to take matters into his own hands and he came up with his first local hit, "Bang InThe Club". Chino fondly remembers those early years when he was carving his name into the spotlight with rhymes and performances. "The reason I call myself Mr. 636 is because I want the whole area code from St. Louis. I want to be the first person from St. Charles County to do a lot of stuff in this part. Because if you're the first person to do something then people remember you." Despite all of the doubt and adversity that he faced it just made him more determined. His first experiences as an MC came from his older cousin, who explained to him that writing rhymes was just the art of "putting words together that make sense." Chino elaborates, "I always hung out around older people. I've been sacrificing and it matured me." Chino has been perfecting his stage show by performing since 2004 and opening for some of the biggest names in the business. Snoop Dogg, Pall Wall, 8 Ball & MJG and Day 26 for starters and his first cousin, the legendary Kansas City King Tech 9. Through Chino's blood bond with Tech 9 and their shared passions he learned a lot. "Tech 9 my first cousin taught me a lot. I did my first few tours with him and I met a lot of people through him, Russell Simmons, Tupac." Chino has taken that knowledge and used it to further his career. Chino says "I believe in the impossible. I'm fortunate right now that my job is to be a rapper. So I have to go to work every day." Chino's place of business is currently the Nettwork Entertainment studios where he puts it down with the label's CEO and producer, Anakin Swain. Chino says, "We go to the studio and I'm in my ring like Muhammad Ali in his prime. Everything comes from the heart so there's no writing block. We had a chemistry before we went into the studio. So now we're like Biggie & Puffy. To be successful you have to have someone to push you like that." When Nettwork Entertainment held a talent show to find the cream of the St. Louis crop Chino proved to be the best. Now that he's signed a multiyear deal with Nettwork Entertainment in April of this year, monumental things have been set in motion. With Chino's rhymes and Anakin Swain's incredible beats the combination is unstoppable. Chino's simply complex lyrics and undeniable flow merges with silky, bottom heavy rhymes and some of the lushest tracks in the universe. Chino puts it in his own words, "We're making music and brining the old school back. We're tired of the skinny jeans-we're making real, real music, elevator music. I want you to feel all of my pain, joy, my expression through my music. If you listen to the music you can see my life story unfold." Nettwork Entertainment is currently preparing to release Chino's first single this summer, "Fresh To Def" and following that up with his debut album in the fall. Prepare to be blown away by Chino's original lyrics and Anakin Swain's amazing production skills. With his own 636 style Chino's last statement perfectly sums things up, "When I make the world feel like they've walked in my chucks
