I've been djing since i was 15 and im now 34 so ive been djing longer than most of yall living. You have to decide what kinda of dj you want to be. Anyone can play music but everybody cannot spin. You have to be able to spin multigenre not just hip hop and R&B and be able to rock multiple races too. Have a extended library and be able too spend old skool. And old skool is not music from 10yrs ago, So juvenile first album is not old skool to me, but i still spin it. Have equipment to do mobile and club gigs. I use laptop and serato plus 1200 or cdjs or whatever i feel like that night. Being knowledgeagle of sound systems and know what type of system to take out at an event if you have too. Reading a crowd and feeling them out is a must, and do your music in sets, dont be all over the place with it, going from slow tempo to uptempo and confusing your crowd. As far as scratching, i like it, but focus more on mixing and blending first to keep the beat rolling, but use it before you mix a song in. Scratching all itself is a artform in and requires alot of pratice just like mixing. But because you put a bunch of new tracks on a cd is not a mixtape to me, that is a compilation to me. A mix cd or tape is when you take the time out to mix as if you were doing a set at a club. And undercutting seems to be the norm these days, all i have to say about that is you upcoming dj's "Pay Ya Dues first" just like a Rap artist gotta pay their dues.

Always felt this track, Mary Mary switched it up and still got the message across. I didnt know it was them. But ZAPP and Roger made a career on the vocoder, its coming back yall.

feelin it too, gotta add to rotation

But for the record serato was originally designed for macs anyway which is synonimous with their video properties and editing so video mixing works better on mac or if you have a pc running mac os x operating system. you have to do to much to get videos to run flawlessly on a windows based computer. but serato itself will work good on just a basic computer anyway. even ones without the duo cores in it.

Personally I learned to dj off old skool vynil and bringing crates of records. So i mix live, that the only way to go. all that auto beat matching is for people who cannot mix. first and foremost, I like them all but prefer serato, thats just my preference. Like the 1200 it has not change in the last 30 or so years (yall didnt know it was that old), i like loops cue points etc, it helps but you have to know music and crowds and that is where good Dj skillz come in. all that extra stuff is for the crib!

This is that lyrical fire here. they put it down on this one here. this is what hip hop is about. Not just about club music but lyrical content.
