For the love of Hip Hop Shelly B has used her adversity to grind harder. Growing up in the North Carolina she didn’t possess a lot of material things, but learned her worth, as a person was invaluable. Growing up at first she didn’t appreciate the opportunity she had to have the back up plan of an education. Shelly was rebellious, smart, and bounced to her own beat.

In high school Shelly realized it was time to get her act together and take her education seriously. She worked hard and became an honor roll student. This is when Shelly learned that she was very good at math and accounting. Shelly was very mature and influenced her peers with her style and charisma. Even though Shelly was very popular she was always a loner. Hip Hop was her best friend, boyfriend, her only true friend.

Shelly B went through several personal experiments to trying to find herself. This laid the foundation that gave her the discipline to be successful as an independent artist. She perfected her craft, stage presence, and learned the business aspect of entertainment while team DeVaNy led her to the top. Shelly B achieved many 1st achievements that paved the way for other budding artists in her region.

In 2005, Shelly B was the first independent artist from North Carolina to be featured in The Source's Unsigned Hype. That feature led to her being featured in the Breeding Ground section of AllHipHop.com. Shortly after, Shelly B obtained 4 DOWN Magazine features, one of which was the cover that she shared with major recording artist OutKast, Lil Boosie, and Ludacris. Without industry politics involved, the editors researched who was diligently working their regions, and Shelly B reigned supreme in the Carolinas. It was during this time that Shelly B graced the pages of the South's number one Hip Hop Magazine, Ozone Magazine. Following the release of this article, she would become VIBE Magazine's pick for Myspace's Hottest 51 Rappers. The list goes on of how he established herself as the Queen of the Carolinas.

Shelly B opened for DMX, LiL Wayne, Trina, Scarface, Petey Pablo, The Lox, Jay-Z, Remy Martin, Fabolous, Soulja Boy, G Unit, KRS-1 and other notable Hip Hop acts in national concerts before going on a six city tour with Rah Digga. Shelly B then expanded the visibility of her brand while supplying a platform for other Indie artist with HollyHood Radio, and various TV hosting positions. Shelly B is not one of the female MC’s that fits into a mold of being the hot chick that can’t spit or the chick that got lyrics but she looks wack. Shelly B is the total package, which earned her the 2011 UMA Female MC Award. Any artist trying to make it needs to take a tip from Shelly who is crafting the recipe for success as an Indie artist.

Shelly B has a unique voice and a sophisticated image. The epitome of an independent artist she writes her own rhymes, distributes her own projects, and entertains with a dynamic stage presence. Shelly continues to broaden her experience in other talents such as modeling, radio & TV hosting, event planning, and acting. Shelly B’s music is just like her personality: creative, spontaneous, diverse, intelligent, and rebellious. From the club bangers, to reality talk, and lyrical street poetry, Shelly B has set a standard for other Femcee’s in the game…and she does it all for the Love of Hip Hop.

You can try to keep up with the Queen of the Carolinas moves on her official website ShellybThat.com which will have a new look and feel February 2012.
