Konway's musical ear was given to him by his father Ralph, who was the lead bass guitar player in a band, and his grandmother Norma, who was the lead vocalist in the band. Growing up Konway's favorite type of music was Hip-Hop, Pop, Rock, and R&B. He was influenced by groups like Metallica and Boys 2 Men and inspired by artists such as Jay-z and Michael Jackson. Having such a vast selection of favorites only gave Conway an edge once he started creating his on sound. Jimmy Konway's music is a mixture of Pop, Hip-Hop, R&B, and Rock. He dubs this musical combination, "Urban Heavy Metal."
