Robert Hood - Omega: Alive (2011)

Robert Hood has created a new version of Omega, his film-inspired album from

last year, entitled Omega: Alive.

The LP shows Hood playing a live set of new tracks and reworks of past

recordings, all of which have been given a "post apocalyptic sound" to fit the

theme of Omega, the 1971 science fiction film that inspired last year's album.

The track list features a few Hood classics, such as "Who Taught You Math?",

"Unix" and "Side Effect," plus some new productions: "Minimal, Minimal" and

"Bells At Dusk," and "Run." All of these songs flow into one another just as

they would when Hood plays in the club. A few unmixed songs have been tacked on

as well: a previously unreleased tune called "Atomic" and both sides of

M-Plant's latest 12-inch, Alpha / The Family.

Hood will be taking his Omega live act on the road this month, with dates

planned around Asia, Australia and Europe. For the next two weeks he'll be in

China, and later in May he'll head to Australia for gigs in Melbourne, Perth,

Adelaide and Sydney. A European tour will follow in the summer, details for

which are still forthcoming. The official launch party will take place at Nitsa

in Barcelona during this year's Sonar festival.
