Queen Qiana was born Qiana Danae'McKenzie in Joliet Illinois on January 30, 1980. She is the only child of a Christian pastor; thus the explanation of her singing roots beginning at the age of three in church. The attribute QUEEN is the title which was bestowed up on her by her grandfather John McKenzie who she affectionately refers to as PaPa. Queen Qiana is family oriented values friendships dearly and has a unique genuine sense of humour. Despite all of these obviously warm traits, her good nature is not to be taken as a weakness-she is no-nonsense Wanna comes to business, and stands firm on her set of personal morals principles and ethics. Music is the first love of her life, and driving force in her pursuit of success. The list of endeavours and accomplishments in the art form of music is extensive to say the least. Her list of accomplishments includes- winning first place in her third grade talent competition at Taft Elementary School; began a nine year study as a flutist at age 8; and reading and writing her own music as well is composing her own lyrics. Upon relocating to Muskegon Michigan in 1992 she won second place in the All-City High School talent competition. While attending high school in Muskegon, Queen Qiana continued her involvement with the marching band as a majorette. She played the flute with the concert band and sung with the jazz band. As part of an award-winning marching band Queen Qiana travelled all over the country performing in the Heritage bowl, Orange Bowl, Circle City Classic four years and in a row, Mardi Gras and the BET Halftime Show in 1996. After relocating back to Joliet Illinois Queen Qiana auditioned for American Idol in 2003, in 2005 started a non-profit majorette team for at risk teen girls called the Joliet All City Hi-Steppers. In 2009 Queen Qiana was the lead singer for the group Smooth As Silk. In 2010 she auditioned for Steve Harvey talent scout competition at the Regal Theatre in Chicago, Illinois. In 2011 she sponsored her own concert "Back Again For The Very First Time" in Muskegon Michigan at the Water Centre for Performing Arts. In 2012 Queen Qiana auditioned for the TV show The Voice, and was asked to travel to Memphis. Queen began singing The National Anthem For The MMA's Association numerous times. Queen performed for the Jay Ivy birthday bash in 2013, in Chicago Illinois. Queen Qiana has diligently worked recording with various artists over the last 20 years. Over the years 35th Street Studio in Chicago Illinois has supported Queen Qiana and her music endeavours and thus they are considered family. Her first solo project is expected to be released May 30, 2014.
