Lifting the Veil

Mirrored Shower are not a band to rush things! They like to refine their music, making sure to catch the perfect essence of each song before they are satisfied.

But neither are they standing still, taking account of the changing media music scene to work on their latest album, which will be a digital download of music to accompanying still and moving images.

From their beginnings in 2000 as a three piece with Jamiroquia’s Matt Johnson, they have morphed into a two-piece combo, working with musicians they admire to produce three albums over the span of years. Their digital download, Dance Of The Seven Veils, will be their fourth.

Ian Uren and Sonny Lovell share out the creativity, with Sonny producing the songs written, largely, by Ian. Ian’s lyrics are finely crafted, poetic even, which figures because Ian gigged for the UK at the poetry symposium in Washington DC and contributing to the longest poem for world peace.

Mirrored Shower’s three previous albums, Have You Seen This Man, Reflections and Return Of The Moddey Dhoo, were artistically well received and they are hoping that the 2015 release of ‘Veils’ will echo that success.

The album features songs that capture the zeitgeist, including Home For The Brave, dedicated to the memory of WW! veterans through to Your Hands, a dancer’s tale of ‘fame as pain’ told from her secret lover’s gaze.

Although Mirrored Shower consider themselves to be predominantly a studio band these days, they are not adverse to appearing on the festival circuit or playing at live venues, in order to enjoy the satisfaction of airing their latest tunes in public.

Reflective Philosophy

The shifting patterns and cyclical trends that pervade the music industry is something ephemera in Mirrored Shower’s opinion. Sonny and I have always felt that the music is the most important part of the equation to get right. Image, whilst at face value, is important to entice the perspective listener/audience in to find out more about you as an artist, ideally the music speaks for itself. For instance if a song/tune is heard for the first time on the radio, without the aid of visuals, hopefully the music conjures up enough emotion and feelings to spark the imagination.

Artists such as David Bowie, Peter Gabriel, Kate Bush, Pink Floyd, Steely Dan and of course the post ‘66 Beatles have always managed to excite the audio senses by using a pictorial language and strong sense of melody that still remains relevant to this day.

Artists now, are fortunate enough to be able to stand on the shoulders of what has gone before and with the help of technology, stamp an identity that is in their own inimitable style.

Mirrored Shower have always taken pride in the fact that we want to keep the music real, by playing mainly organic instruments with real musicians. Our philosophy is that organic instruments never seem to date whatever the current trend. There is something inherent in us human beings, when the purity of raw talent never ceases to impress and move us in a way that touches an unfathomable space deep within us all.

Sonny and I would like to take this opportunity in thanking all of our fans that have helped us with our creative journey and welcome more to join our steady flow of the ‘Power Shower’, helping us to spread the word of keeping our music real for all to enjoy.

Peace and Shower Power.
