GreenHitz.com
Azizah Diamond was born in Sacramento, CA. Her family is a melting pot of cultures, as her heritage is mixed with Black, Japanese, Choctaw Indian and, as some family have said, a bit of Ethiopian. Needless to say, she grew up in very cultured surroundings. These multi-cultural be- ginnings lead to Azizah being, one could say, racially ambiguous, as she grew into her womanhood as a true beauty and willowy stunner with a beautiful voice. _____________________________________________________________________________________ Azizah began singing during her formative years in her grandmother's home away from home, Saint Paul Baptist Church. Brought up in the church, Azizah learned to love everything from gospel to Disco. Affectionately named “Suga Mamma” and "Miss Hollywood" as a adolescent, she was constantly caught dancing in the mirror singing "old school" songs with her mother and was instantly recognized as the first love child in the family. She taught the family how to say "I love You" to each other by simply saying it to her grandmother. Her family knew at an early age there was something different with Azizah. _____________________________________________________________________________________ Raised in a strict home while attending a private school at a young age, she was only allowed to listen to certain music. Consequently, she would always sneak and listen to the radio at night to learn different sounds and songs to sing. “I was always listening to Janet and Aaliyah growing up,” she says. She attended Sheldon High School where she became a member of the dance company known as Universal Rhythm. Well known for their dance routines in her hometown, coupled with her love for Janet Jackson's dance moves, she was named "Miss Janet”. With Azizah at the lead, the group had amazing performances as her popularity grew substantially in and around her hometown. The seed was planted, as buzz was spreading. _____________________________________________________________________________________ She’s worked with rapper Doey Rock out of Sacramento, which subsequently awarded her with her first radio play on KSFM 102.5 as a fea- tured artist on a song called “Halo”. Her family and friends encouraged her to want more and to achieve more, thus suggesting she move to a bigger city to get more opportunities. The howl and bright lights of Los Angeles began to call. Azizah Diamond, having had a taste of what it meant to be admired and known, soon thereafter moved to Los Angeles to pursue her dreams of becoming a professional recording artist. Landing in L.A. was a seamless transition. And through networking as a singer and being in the right places to do the politics of the game, she’s had records produced by Sonaro, who’s worked with Faboulous in the past, Grammy Award winning producer Brian Kennedy, producers Tim and Bob, SuperPower and No I.D. colleague, Trakmatik, with whom she is currently working with to create new records... For Azizah Dia- mond, a diamond in the rough is too cliche a description, for she was truly born to shine!
