I'm new to this forum and I appreciate everybody's post. Me I use Traktor pro, A Denon HC4500 and a Denon X-500 along with a American Audio DCDPro=1000 (which will be replaced with a Denon BU-4500). Traktor is the only program that I use even though I know that Serato is the industry standard. Well for one, I don't mind being different and also just to shoot down that misconception I mix hip-hop, house, old school and r&b. So I guess Traktor is not only for those who do trance and electro. Second, I'm not a turntablist. I respect the art highly and I respect those who possess those skills, but I mix more than scratch. So does that make me less of a DJ because I use a laptop with a midi-controller and do not own vinyl nor have any 1200's?? I guess for some people on this board I am ruining the art form of DJ'ing. That's a bunch of bull. Because when I go DJ parties and clubs at the end of the night I've had people come to me and tell me how they love the music and had fun and I even had some tell me that they didn't like the music. But not one person ever came to me and said that they didn't like the party or will not buy my mix cd's because I don't use real vinyl or I use Traktor instead of Serato. To me, when the crowd/event planner is happy then I know that I did my job regardless of what I used. Its killing me looking at some of these posts and how there are people here are spending their time worrying about what others are using and then judging them based on what they use. The real judges are them people on that dancefloor or that event planner. I can use what everybody else uses and be "in" the crowd. But if those people ain't happy, I'm not eating, regardless.
