The persona of producer and singer Jahron Brathwaite, PartyNextDoor finds the Toronto-based artist experimenting with a fractured blend of minimal hip-hop and R&B that has drawn natural comparisons to fellow Canadians Drake and the Weeknd. The first artist signed to Drake's Warner Bros.-supported OVO Sound label, Brathwaite made his self-titled debut on the label in July 2013. A low-key release with Drake featured on one cut, it reached number 34 on Billboard's R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. A sequel, PartyNextDoor Two, followed in July 2014 with a greater promotional push. It topped R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and crossed into the Billboard 200 at number 19, aided by "Recognize," on which Drake once again provided an assist. PNDColours, a four-track EP, followed in December 2014. No stranger to featured appearances himself, Brathwaite returned Drake's favor on Nothing Was the Same and If You're Reading This It's Too Late, and he also appeared on cuts by the likes of P. Onika Tanya Maraj (born December 8, 1982), known by her stage name Nicki Minaj (/mɪˈnɑːʒ/), is an American rapper and songwriter. Clifford Joseph Harris, Jr. (born September 25, 1980), better known by his stage name T.I., and formerly T.I.P., is an American rapper, record producer, actor and entrepreneur from Bankhead, Atlanta, Georgia. T.I. embarked on his music career with his longtime friends and fellow rappers in the Southern hip hop group Pimp Squad Click (P$C). Christopher Maurice "Chris" Brown (born May 5, 1989) is an American recording artist, dancer, and actor. Born in Tappahannock, Virginia, he taught himself to sing and dance at a young age and was involved in his church choir and several local talent shows. Having signed with Jive Records in 2004, Brown released his self-titled debut studio album the following year.
