  8. Although Trey Songz loved hip-hop while growing up, the only R&B he could get into was R. Kelly. When his friends heard his perfect tenor voice, however, they pushed him to drop rap and start crooning. Songz did just that, and after winning numerous talent shows in his native Petersburg, VA, the 15-year-old singer met Troy Taylor, who had worked behind the scenes with such artists as Patti LaBelle, SWV, and B2K. Taylor encouraged Trey to finish high school first, and then they could talk about a possible music career. Trey received his diploma and immediately moved to New Jersey to work with Taylor. Soon, the singer was appearing on Kevin Lyttle's debut album and Trick Daddy's Thug Matrimony as a sideman, as well as striking out on his own with "About the Game," a solo cut from the Coach Carter soundtrack. As he was working on his debut album — not to mention several collaborations with Lil' Kim, Trina, and Snoop Dogg — Trey Songz released some street-level mixtapes under his alias, the Prince of Virginia. His proper debut, I Gotta Make It, was released by Atlantic Records in 2005, and the sophomore effort, Trey Day, charted at number 11 upon its release in 2007. In 2009 the single "I Need a Girl" helped to make Ready his first album with an RIAA gold certification. In the summer of 2010 his track “Already Taken” landed on the Step Up 3D soundtrack, while his collaborative single with rapper Nicki Minaj, “Bottoms Up,” was released to promote that year's Passion, Pain & Pleasure, issued in September! As time went on Young Smooth moved to california and Pimp Que had know choice but to look for someone to take his place. Big Ne had just released his new song "Soulja Haten" which caught the eye of Pimp Que. Later Pimp Que decided to collabe with Big Ne and release a mixtape called "Hood Prospects." This would soon be the talk of the town. Doing shows all over East Texas would soon bring them across K.O there third memeber. 19. From the mean streets of South Florida, to the top of the pop, rap, and ringtone charts, Plies has came up and done it. Mixing gritty street beats and "no apologies" lyrics, Plies has gained a name for himself in the hip-hop world as a street lyricist and southern street producer, appearing on such chart-topping hits hits as "Becky", "Shawty", "Medicine", "Put It On Ya", and a crowd favorite "Plenty Money". Plies first album, released in the fall of 2007, produced explosive club hits as "Shawty" (ft T-Pain), "Hypnotized" (ft. Akon), quickly vaulting the Ft Myers rapper into the spotlight. "The Real Testament" led the way to his second album, "The Definition of Real", a widespread success in the summer of 2008. With the summer's "Bust it Baby" craze still in full force, this take-charge rapper dropped yet another album, "Da Realist" in December to rave reviews, with breakout hits "Plenty Money" and "Want It, Need It" (w/ Ashanti). Plies has stayed busy in 2009, headlining at Last Damn Show in Tampa, performing at the BET Music Awards, throwing $50,000 to a crowd at Birthday Bash in Atlanta, touring the US briefly, working in studio, and granting interviews to various outlets. Plies highly anticipated fourth album "Goon Affiliated" is scheduled to release June 8th 2010, has already produced Billboard hits with "Medicine", "Becky", “She Got It Made”, and many others. 20. Though he got his start in 1998 as a member of a Billboard charting rap group called Suthern Klick, Big Nod has been a solo recording artist for over eight years, proving his staying power. His latest album, GRIND MODE, personifies his mission to achieve greatness as an MC and reap monetarily in the rap game. “I’m always in grind mode. I’m always trying to think of ways to get some money and make myself successful,” the Albany, GA native says. Delivering a ---ture of rhyme styles accented by his warm, southern cadence, he reminds listeners of Kanye West’s lyrical dexterity and wordplay, and MJG’s rawness. In 2000, MCA/Universal dropped Suthern Klick and kept Field Mob on the label. Big Nod and another member of Suthern Klick, Ole-E (now his label-mate on Dirty South Entertainment) kept writing and producing music. Cooking up a formula of club tracks and good ol’ bass-dipping car music that people love, Big Nod began to build a heavy impact in the South and Midwest on ---tapes. He was also featured on Trillville and Lil’ Scrappy’s, “Diamonds in My Pinky Ring” and Field Mob's, “Hey Shawty.” Today, Big Nod shows no sign of stopping. Working with a collage of esteemed industry professionals such as songwriter, G. La Beaud (who penned songs for Diane Warren, Mary J. Blige, The O’Jays and Gerald LeVert), beatmakers Sherm and Skeet; and producers Uncle Jamz and The La Beaud Boys, Big Nod expects GRIND MODE to be his best work ever. It features the hit single, “Top Model” produced by Blak & L. Wattz, and his personal anthem, “I’ll Never Change,” produced by T.C. The release is due October 2010 on Dirty South Entertainment.
