The HDRI creation features were extracted from AKVIS Enhancer (HDR mode) with the following changes:

1. Improved the alignment algorithm and the method of combining shots to an HDR image.

3. Improved the Tone Mapping algorithm.

4. Added the Ghost Removal Tool which is useful for removing transparent "ghost" artifacts from an HDR image.

5. Added the Adjustment tab with the parameters for improving an image or creating an HDR effect from one single photo.

Cyndi Lauper (Cynthia Ann Stephanie Lauper) was born June 22, 1953, in Ozone Park, Queens, New York, to Fred Lauper and Catrine Dominique (father of Teutonic origin and mother of Italian descent). At age 12, began playing the guitar and writing songs. He leaves school and begins to travel, especially to Canada, returning to New York.

Nel 1978, crea una sua band pop rock: i Blue Angel, con John Turi; il gruppo era formato da 5 componenti: Cyndi Lauper (voce); John Turi (tastiere); Johnny "Bullet" Morelli (percussioni); Lee Brovitz (basso) e Arthur "Rockin' A" Neilson (chitarra). Il gruppo era stato messo insieme anche grazie all'aiuto di Ted Rosenblatt (manager). Nel 1980, realizzano il loro primo album, l'omonimo Blue Angel, ma poco dopo la band si scioglie. La Lauper, a corto di denaro, inizia a lavorare come commessa, continuando comunque a coltivare la propria passione e a scrivere canzoni.

Nel 1981, mentre canta in un locale newyorkese, la Lauper incontra David Wolff, che diventa suo manager e riesce a procurarle un contratto con la Portrait Records, una sottoetichetta della Columbia Records.

Nel dicembre del 1983 esce l'album solista di Cyndi Lauper: She's So Unusual, album di debutto che presenta un mix equilibrato di ottima fattura di pop-rock che strizza l'occhio sia agli adolescenti che alla musica dance; con voci che si rifanno a un punk dal sound new wave.L'album viene promosso per lo piu nel 1984 e diventa subito un successo internazionale.

She's So Unusual e un titolo programmatico che suona letteralmente: lei e cosi inusuale, ma meglio traducibile come lei e cosi fuori dal comune oppure come lei e cosi fuori dagli schemi, che forse rende ancora meglio l'idea. Cyndi Lauper, in relazione al personaggio da lei adottato, compare sulla coloratissima immagine di copertina davanti a un locale che cade a pezzi come una zingara: a piedi scalzi e con i vestiti stracciati e coloratissimi. Le sole scarpe sono ritratte anche sul retro dell'album ed in copertina, in un quartiere evidentemente disagiato, con un muro pieno di graffiti sullo sfondo; dove le scarpe,con un vistoso buco sulla suola, sono lasciate al suolo come abbandonate a se stesse.

1986 - True Colors (Japan edition)

Nel 1986 Cyndi Lauper pubblica il suo secondo album, True Colors rivelando un sound piu maturo e una maggior sensibilita. Collaborano all'album Nile Rodgers, Aimee Mann, Billy Joel e The Bangles. Anche se l'album non ottiene il successo del precedente, presenta comunque diverse hit: la title-track "True Colors", il brano di apertura "Change of Heart" e una cover di un pezzo storico di Marvin Gaye, intitolato "What's Going on". Tra gli altri brani del disco spiccano il brevissimo episodio tribale costituito dalla vecchissima "Iko Iko" (che in una ben piu lunga performance dal vivo, Cyndi suona anche le percussioni) e "Boy Blue", scritta e dedicata ad un amico molto vicino alla Lauper, affetto dal virus HIV e poi deceduto. "Boy Blue" e il quarto singolo estratto dall'album e pubblicato nel 1987 il cui ricavato e stato donato per la ricerca all'AIDS. E nota un'altra versione di "Boy Blue" da cui e stato tratto il videoclip del singolo, sponsorizzato molto da MTV America; e quella del concerto del 1986, ripreso anche in VHS, tenutosi a Le Zenith di Parigi. La versione "live" di "Boy Blue" verra poi pubblicata nel 1989 come lato B nel singolo "I Drove All Night". Sul lato B del singolo "True Colors" troviamo invece un pezzo inedito, non inserito nell'album: "Heading for the Moon".

1989 - A Night To Remember (2008 Japan limited edition)

Nel 1989, esce il terzo album, A Night to Remember, che e ben accetto dalla critica, ma non altrettanto dal pubblico. L'unica hit e il primo singolo, "I Drove All Night", ma il lavoro contiene diverse altre canzoni degne di nota, come la ballad "Unconditional Love" (scritta dalla coppia inossidabile Steinberg/Kelly, poi reinterpretata dalla ex-Bangles Susanna Hoffs, in una versione leggermente modificata dagli autori, espressamente per la Hoffs), la title-track "A Night to Remember", la divertente "Insecurious" (crasi tra le parole insecure, insicuro, e curious, curioso, a creare un inesistente lemma insicurioso), la scatenata "Primitive" e la splendida "Heading West" (tra i singoli estratti). A detta di molti, l'insuccesso dell'album sarebbe dovuto al fatto che, in questo lavoro, Cyndi sceglie di cantare riducendo al massimo sia le tonalita piu acute che i suoi leggendari urletti, preferendo invece un registro piu basso e un tono di voce piu caldo e melodioso.

Nel 1993 esce anche il suo quarto album, Hat Full of Stars, che non ottiene molto successo, nonostante contenga alcuni brani, come il brano d'apertura "Who Let in the Rain", la title-track "Hat Full of Stars" e la tenera ballata "Sally's Pigeons", entrati di diritto nel repertorio storico della cantante. Quest'ultima canzone e, per stessa ammissione di Cyndi, "un piccolo omaggio a Tiny Dancer", una delle piu grandi canzoni di Elton John e Bernie Taupin. La cantante ha inoltre dichiarato che quella canzone la emozione ogni volta che l'ascolta.

1994 - Twelve Deadly Cyns... And Then Some

Visti i recenti insuccessi commerciali, nel 1994 pubblica il suo primo greatest hits, il cui titolo e in pieno stile Lauper: Twelve Deadly Cyns... and Then Some presenta infatti, nella sua prima parte di titolo, un gioco di parole che vuol essere una specie di parodia ironica della frase inglese Seven Deadly Sins, che significa I sette peccati mortali; Cyndi ne aumenta il numero, fino a farlo corrispondere a quello delle tracce inserite nel disco, e inoltre modifica la grafia della parola peccati, che in inglese e sins, creando cosi un'assonanza fono-grafica con il diminutivo del suo nome, cioe Cyns (che si pronuncia esattamente come sins). La compilation, che contiene anche una versione inedita, rivisitata in chiave moderna, di "Girls Just Want to Have Fun", con un nuovo ritornello aggiunto, da cui deriva il nuovo sottotitolo, "Hey now", viene presentata anche in Italia: al Roxy Bar, condotto da Red Ronnie, e alla manifestazione Vota la voce, su Canale 5.

Cyndi Lauper torna con un nuovo album di inediti di studio soltanto nel 1997, quando pubblica Sisters of Avalon, dove affronta temi complessi e profondi, come il femminismo e l'omosessualita. Nel 2003 viene pubblicato At Last un album di cover in cui Cyndi Lauper, con un nuovo contratto della Sony-Epic, reinterpreta dei classici degli anni quaranta, cinquanta e sessanta.

Cyndi promuove l'album con tre brani: "Walk on By", scritta da Burt Bacharach ed interpretata, nel 1964, da Dionne Warwick; "Stay", scritta da Maurice Williams ed interpretata per la prima volta, sempre nel 1964, da The Four Seasons; e "Until You Come Back to Me", scritta da Stevie Wonder nel 1960 insieme a Morris Broadnax e Clarence Paul, e reinterpretata, nel 1973, anche da Aretha Franklin.

At Last riesce a vendere 4 milioni e mezzo di copie. Sia in Australia che negli USA, l'album e nella Top 40 dei CD piu venduti. Era dal 1994, con la raccolta Twelve Deadly Cyns... and Then Some, che un album di Cyndi Lauper non vendeva cosi tanto.

Nel 2004 la Lauper s'imbarca per "The At Last Tour", un tour internazionale in cui fara il giro del mondo tra USA, Australia e Giappone.

Per il successo insaspettato dell'album, nato come un modesto side project, la Sony decide di pubblicare il DVD Live... At Last, in cui viene riproposta la performance di New York, registrata l'11 marzo 2004, al Town Hall.

2004 - Shine (Japan)

Nel 2001, Shine la vede tornare alla ribalta anche con sonorita piu pop-rock. Purtroppo, l'uscita ufficiale dell'album e solo per il mercato giapponese e viene posticipata al 2004. Le cause sono dovute alla bancarotta della casa discografica americana Edel: Cyndi ha cosi perso molto tempo, impegnata a riprendersi i diritti legati al disco, che era stato fatto uscire nel 2001 solo in via promozionale. Riesce comunque a trovare un'altra casa discografica disposta a pubblicare un EP nel 2002 e un remix del singolo della title-track "Shine" nel 2003.

Compone le musiche del film Terror Island, nel 2002, inserendovi anche una sua canzone, "Water's Edge". Sempre nel 2002, e stata in tour con Cher, in alcune date del Living Proof: The Farewell Tour di quest'ultima, come artista di supporto.

Con largo anticipo, trapelano in rete sia il titolo che la data d'uscita sul mercato giapponese del nuovo album di Cyndi Lauper: alcuni siti musicali, come il sito della HMV giapponese, pubblicano una scheda dettagliata, con l'immagine della copertina, una tracklisting e la data, con informazioni tecniche per un eventuale prenotazione all'acquisto; si scopre cosi che, una volta scartato il titolo provvisorio Savoir Faire, il nuovo album s'intitola Bring Ya to the Brink (la copertina dell'album figura anche nel libretto interno della citata raccolta giapponese The Essential Cyndi Lauper) e che in Giappone l'uscita e prevista per il 14 maggio 2008. La notizia della pubblicazione di un album imminente sul sito ufficiale di Cyndi Lauper viene invece data il 4 aprile: negli USA, Bring Ya to the Brink esce il 27 maggio.

"Bob's music has always conveyed a message of hope, unity and love. It has brought countless people together as it did that night 30 years ago in Pittsburgh. To hear that music today and to be able to share it with a new generation shows that Bob is as relevant today as he was 30 years ago," says Rita Marley.

For marketing purposes, Bob Marley, the Wailers, and Bob Marley & the Wailers have become interchangeable names, used indiscriminately to refer to recordings actually made by separate entities. So, it is worth recalling the distinctions that existed at the times these entities performed and recorded. The Wailers, formed in Kingston, Jamaica, in 1963, was a vocal group consisting of Junior Braithwaite, Beverley Kelso, Bunny Livingston, Bob Marley, Peter McIntosh, and Cherry Smith; they were called variously the Teenagers, the Wailing Rudeboys, the Wailing Wailers, and finally the Wailers. Braithwaite, Kelso, and Smith had departed by 1966, leaving the trio of Livingston, Marley, and McIntosh. By the early '70s, they had begun playing musical instruments and added a rhythm section consisting of brothers Aston "Family Man" Barrett (bass) and Carlton (Carlie) Barrett (drums). After recording extensively in Jamaica, this unit was signed to Great Britain's Island Records, which issued its label debut, Catch a Fire, in April 1973, followed by Burnin' in November. These albums attracted critical attention but did not chart at first.

Recorded 30 years ago while Marley was touring in support of his album Uprising, Live Forever is Bob Marley's last recorded concert. This never before released audio collection offers an incredible snapshot of one of music's most influential performers.

This unforgettablconcert contains unique performances of "No Woman No Cry," "Jammin'," and "Is This Love," to name a few, and depicts a musical innovator and inspiration to people of many cultures and generations. This spectacular audio documentary Live Forever, also immortalizes the last song Marley ever performed live in concert: "Get Up Stand Up," his rally cry for equality.

The momentous occasion captured on Live Forever is now available on 2CD/3LP/digital, for the benefit of all who missed their first opportunity to attend that magical evening. Marley's influence on today's musical landscape and his continuous worldwide appeal is still evident today. And his legacy and message carry on.

Uprising's most notable song, "Redemption Song," is featured on this extraordinary release and has been covered by everyone from Rihanna and the Dave Matthews Band to Stevie Wonder and Chris Cornell. Perhaps by definition, compilation albums tend to be curates egg affairs. Often less than the sum of their parts, even the most artfully assembled mix-tape tends to sag in places, curatorial skill being a rare virtue in music (a fact borne out by listening to 90 percent of contemporary radio shows). There are, however, exceptions to this rule.

Which brings us to Minute Papillon, the labels latest and most ambitious curatorial exercise yet. Comprising 60, one-minute-long tracks purveyed by a pan-global retinue of left-of-centre artists, its as conceptually sharp as it is consistently intriguing on the ear and offers a litany of diverting vignettes that run the gamut of post-classical soundscapes, electronic sound designs, miniature pop songs, folk reveries, guitar soli and several stations in between. Somehow, its three score miscellany of succinct essays feels all of a piece, effortlessly transforming less-is-more concision into an opulent embarrassment of riches; a fact enhanced by the albums typically enigmatic artwork which features an exclusive image by celebrated Irish contemporary fine artist Eva Rothschild.

Owing an acknowledged debt to such precedents as the Morgan Fischer-curated, 1981 Cherry Red compilation Miniatures and The Residents Commercial Album from1980, Minute Papillon is the kind of inscrutable cause clbre album that no switched on collector of contemporary music should be without. Boasting contributions from the UK, Scandinavia, Europe, North America and Japan, Minute Papillon sustains a rigorous all killer no filler regimen over 60 tracks, which is no mean curatorial achievement. In the unlikely event that one or other contribution doesnt fully satisfy, the listener is safe in the knowledge that therell be another along, quite literally, in a minute.
