I feel ya bro ! I realize the people throwing the event are trying to cut cost, but i let them know here in my area of georgia you can go cheap on the dj a have a suck azz party or pay for a good one an still have a suck azz party. I too have worked hard at our craft to make sure i deliver eachn time out. Some times i get hired and some times i don't. I have even checked out a couple i didn't get to "see" and "hear" if the cheaper guy was worth it. Not being biased, but both parties were weak mainly because of the cheap dj. There were other dj's in our area who are more weel known and a couple that are truly better than me. I just can't and will not work for the cheap or under cut to get a gig. I thank God i have a great full time job that i can pick and chose when i play. Keep your heads up guys and girls and work hard and keep the faith. I hve learned that once the word gets out that dj soing so playys for cheap, but the party sucks, other people start to give the better dj's the work. Just likr jr. high, no one wants to be know as the weak ass party giver ! Peace !
