At just 14 years old Left Gunnz, born Lawrence Gaines knew his calling. Following in the footsteps of his older brother Steve Stone and his cousin Shon Shanx who were making noise in New Jersey wit the group Bad Nuz. Left studied some of the greats of the early 90s and took a particular liking to the styles of Kool G Rap and Big L. He quickly earned the title as the one to beat on the New Jersey battle scene with an undeniable flow and an ability to paint pictures with his flows the listener could see like full length movies. While spitting at an open Mic in New Brunswick Nj Left caught the attention of local clothing designer and entrepreneur Brian "Fizz" Braxton who took Left under his wing for the next year and kept his name live in central Jersey. After locking in with some of the top local producers including Keith K Love Horne, and Malik Pendleton Left finally tasted the big leagues with a collab with Guru of Gangstarr on his solo album Baldhead Slick And the Click. Shortly after the young star in the making almost lost his life in a car accident that shattered his femur and left him basically disabled for several months This stoke of misfortune ended up being less than enough to stop Left. Fizz picked Left up one evening crutches and all and made a move that would change his life forever. Left found himself at Divine Mill studios in Orange Nj. Home of none other than Kay Gee of Naughty By Nature. Kay noticed the lyrical integrity as well as the grind of a young man fresh out of major surgery spitting bars beyond his years and before long Left was a regular at Divine Mill. It was there Left recorded the hood banger One Gun Two Gunnz which received national airplay spinning heavy on New Yorks major stations hot 97 , 107.5 , and Star from Star and Buckwild virtually made it the shows theme song. Left went on to sign a deal with New Brunswick star Jaheim and received more airplay remixing some of Jaheim hits including Put that Woman First and Diamond in da Ruff. After that situation dissolved Left took a two year hiatus unsure of his future in hip hop. That was until his wife, Janine Gaines suggested he join forces with local party promoter Sonya Avant. It wasnt long before Left was back at it performing live with Teairra Mari and recording his hit street album Rebirth Of Left. Left is now working the social network along side Sonya Avant moving full speed ahead for the crown he feels is rightfully his.
