SNAPCHAT’S NEW UPDATE CHANGES THE WAY USERS VIEW SNAPS AND STORIES

Snapchat is changing the way you view things — quite literally. The new Snapchat update, new on Wednesday, made big changes to its user interface, including the way you open Snaps and Stories.

Current Snapchat users are accustomed to the press and hold technique of viewing Snaps and Stories, but the app is introducing a “tap to view feature.”

For some, this may take a little getting used to, but ultimately it solves the bothersome issue of accidentally moving a finger and never seeing that Snap again.

So, are you going to be stuck watching that 300-second Story of your cousin at an EDM concert? No. The update will still allow you to tap through Stories, or swipe down to exit the Story.

The update will add more than just a new way of viewing Snaps and Stories. The app will make it easier to add the people around you with an “Add Nearby” feature. Users can open the feature in the menu, but the only usernames available will be from those that also have the “Add Nearby” screen open.

Beyond that, users will now be able to put their face on that little Snapchat ghost on the menu. Tapping on the icon will bring up the selfie camera, and users can take 5 rapid-burst selfies to create an animated chain of photos on the ghost.

For those ultra-safe Snappers, the update also includes an addition of two-factor authentication. To enable this, users can tap the security feature from the “Login Verification” menu in the app’s main settings.

The update is available starting Wednesday for iOS and Android users.
