Who is Tippy? Born Andre Wilson, Tippy, is a laid back individual with an individual unique rhyme and delivery style that is unmatched by anyone in the music game. In one package he combines the rare combination of artist, producer, writer, and performer. Influenced by Young Jeezy, T.I., Snoop Dog, and Dr. Dre, Tippy has always had a love for music as kid. In 2008, formerly known as “Top Notch,” Tippy won a freestyle battle in high school. It was then that he decided to pick up a pen and pad and was soon performing live under the name Tippy. A few shows quickly turned into weekly performances at the famous Throwbacks Night Club in Atlanta, where he found an eager audience, and the music industry discovered a new talent. Born and raised in Columbus, GA,Tippy grew up the oldest of three with the major responsibility of taking care of his younger siblings. Surrounded by bad influences outside of the home, Tippy dropped out of high school at the age of 17. Determined not to let that be his final chapter, he worked hard and studied, earning his GED by the time he turned 18 years old. “I learned that I can’t be a quitter,” Tippy said when ask what he learned from dropping out of school.
No stranger to struggle and the hard knocks of life, Tippy says his music is for everyone. Instead of professing to be a gangster or hood rapper, he simply speaks and writes from a humbled heart, putting out lyrics designed to touch all who listen.Don’t be fooled, however, by the quiet and shy persona.
