The Los Angeles Dodgers just pulled off a move that all but assures them as a World Series contender.

The Dodgers on Tuesday acquired Mookie Betts and David Price from the Boston Red Sox. Boston reportedly is agreeing to pay cash to facilitate the trade. A third team, the Minnesota Twins, are also involved in the deal.

The Red Sox are getting Alex Verdugo back from the Dodgers, and Brusdar Graterol, a young relief pitcher, from the Twins.

The former MLB MVP will be taking his talents to Hollywood which could eventually lead him to the big money payday he is looking for. Betts is known to be seeking top dollar, and the Dodgers are one of the few teams that may be willing to pay him.

Oddly enough, just one year removed from beating the Dodgers in the World Series, the Red Sox seem like their heading into a rebuild. Bettis was beloved by the Red Sox fans.  Betts wasn’t likely to re-sign, considering the massive payday that awaits him in free agency. Time will tell if this trade helps both teams, but for now, the Dodgers are the new frontrunners to win the 2020 fall classic.
