Congratulations to rappers, J Cole and 21 Savage for winning a Grammy last night on their collab song, “A lot.” The number one Billboard charting collab came from 21 Savage’s second studio album, I Am > I Was. The song also charted on the Billboard Hot R&B/HipHop songs chart and ranked the twelfth spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

The duo’s song beat out DaBaby’s “Suge,” YBN Cordae’s “Bad Idea,” Rick Ross’ “Gold Roses,” and the late Nipsey Hussle’s “Racks in the Middle.” 21 Savage’s I Am > I Was album also was nominated for a grammy.

Just days after the release of the visual to the Grammy Winning song, 21 Savage was detained by ICE after authorities report that the rapper was an immigrant, who was unlawfully residing in the US. After being detained for nearly, two weeks the rapper told reporters that he wouldn’t change what he went through because “It made me who I am.”

“I wouldn’t write it no other way if I had the choice. If they said, ‘Hey, you could start your life over and make yourself a citizen,’ I wouldn’t have never did it. I still want to go through this right here ’cause it made me who I am, it made me strong.”

At the top of the year, fans also were shocked upon the discovery that J.Cole still hadn’t received a grammy. As of yesterday, that is no more, Congraduatltions to all the 2020 Grammy recipients.
