The wildfires in Australia continue to ravage the continent burning down homes and taking lives and now NBA bound athlete LaMelo Ball is doing his part to help. Ball who is currently a member of the Illawara Hawks in Australia’s National Basketball League has pledged one month’s salary to support victims of the wildfires.

The specific dollar amount has been kept private, but Melo is stepping up in his home away from home.

“It’s sad to see what is happening on the south coast of Australia,” Ball said in a statement. “People have lost their homes and everything they own. My parents taught me to help out wherever I can, so this is my way of helping out.”

The fires have destroyed more than 900 homes and at least 18 people have died according to CNN. The fires continue to blaze with no immediate signs of slowing down.
